Sudanese Sea Ports Corporation Explores Maritime Infrastructure Cooperation with China Engineering Company

The Director General of Sudan’s Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Jilani Mohamed Jilani, accompanied by Ambassador Omar Issa Ahmed, Sudan’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, met with the President of China Harbour Engineering Company, Bai Yingjiang, at the company’s headquarters in Beijing.

The meeting came within the framework of efforts aimed at strengthening Sudanese-Chinese cooperation in the fields of ports, infrastructure, and maritime transport, as well as exploring partnership opportunities between Sudan’s Sea Ports Corporation and the Chinese company, particularly in the areas of port development and modernization, improving logistics services, and rehabilitating infrastructure related to maritime transport.

Radio correspondent in China, Osama Mukhtar, reported that the meeting reviewed Sudan’s promising potential, especially in the seaports sector, and the opportunities provided by its strategic location on the Red Sea to enhance its role as a regional hub for transport, trade, and logistics services.

Engineer Jilani affirmed Sudan’s interest in benefiting from advanced Chinese expertise in port construction and management, praising CHEC’s achievements and major projects at both regional and international levels, which make the company an important strategic partner in Sudan’s future development projects.

For his part, Bai Yingjiang expressed appreciation for the historical ties between China and Sudan and praised the distinguished relations between the company and the corporation. He affirmed the company’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Sudan and studying opportunities to participate in maritime infrastructure projects in a way that serves mutual interests and supports economic development efforts.

The meeting also featured extensive discussions on ongoing and future projects, reflecting a shared desire to strengthen cooperation and expand it toward broader horizons. Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination during the coming phase to explore further practical cooperation opportunities in the ports and maritime infrastructure sector.

China Harbour Engineering Company also expressed its readiness to support the implementation of joint projects and expand the scope of partnership with the Sudanese side, in a manner that contributes to development and reconstruction efforts in Sudan.
