JEM Spokesperson to Sudanhorizon: Eastern Falcons Front Joining Strengthens Unified Armed Forces

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Moussa

Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, Secretary of Information and official spokesperson for the Justice and Equality Movement, confirmed that the joining of the Eastern Falcons Front to the movement comes within the framework of strengthening armed groups under the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces.

In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon, Zakaria said the move also represents additional support for the movement and reinforces the efforts of the Sudanese people in their battle against the Rapid Support Forces militia.

Zakaria stated that the key to success in the current conflict lies in the strong unity of the Sudanese people behind the state leadership and the armed forces. He explained that the movement and its allies within the Joint Forces have played a major role in standing alongside the army, supporting it, and fighting under its command.

He considered that fighting with such unity and integration would accelerate victory, adding that unifying armed groups against the militia is better than fighting in a fragmented manner.

He further said that the integration of the Eastern Falcons under the banner of the armed movements would help reduce the likelihood of weapons existing outside the armed forces, noting that movements signatory to the Juba Peace Agreement have consistently emphasized in their political and media discourse the importance of integration into the armed forces and expressed their desire to merge with the army “sooner rather than later.”

Zakaria argued that concerns over the growing size of armed movements and the possibility that they could become a future threat, as happened with the RSF, are “unjustified.” He stressed that the movements chose to fight alongside the armed forces during the current war and that everyone in Sudan “has learned from the experience.”

He added that the Eastern Falcons’ joining also carries a political dimension represented by the movement’s expansion into eastern Sudan, considering this evidence of the movement’s national character and the acceptance of its political discourse among different segments of Sudanese society.

He said the move was not limited to the front itself but also included its political apparatus and supporters, describing it as a “great opportunity” to strengthen efforts to defeat the militia.

Zakaria noted that the Eastern Falcons Front has a broad presence in Sudan and historically held longstanding grievances. He added that it possesses military leadership and highly trained forces, explaining that its joining the movement effectively represents an indirect integration into the Sudanese Armed Forces.

He stated that the group would be incorporated into the movement’s political and military institutions, becoming part of the military leadership while its political wing would also be integrated into the movement.

Zakaria emphasized that Eastern Falcons forces would be on the front lines in various battlefronts. He added that the group falls under the supervision of Nazir Mohamed Al-Amin Turk and that the majority of its members belong to the Hadendowa tribe, which aligned itself with the armed forces and Joint Forces in the conflict.

He concluded by saying that the war against the RSF militia has unified Sudanese willpower and pushed different components of society to take up arms in defense of the country, honor, and the interests of the nation and its citizens.
