The two sides held bilateral talks focused on institutional matters related to Sudan’s return to the organisation, as well as the urgent need to strengthen collective efforts to end the conflict and achieve peace, stability, and recovery for the Sudanese people.
For his part, the IGAD Executive Secretary reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting all efforts that place dialogue, unity, and the aspirations of the Sudanese people at the centre of the path towards progress.
It is worth noting that Agar arrived in Djibouti to attend the inauguration ceremony of Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, scheduled for Saturday.
Guelleh Inauguration
The capital, Djibouti, is set to host the inauguration ceremony of President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh for a new presidential term, with the attendance of international leaders and high-level officials.
The ceremony is expected to bring together several African and regional heads of state, as well as prominent political and diplomatic figures.
President Guelleh will take the constitutional oath weeks after being re-elected in a vote that saw a sweeping victory for the ruling camp.
A series of bilateral meetings between the Djiboutian president and participating leaders and officials is also anticipated, aimed at strengthening cooperation and partnership between Djibouti and the attending countries.
