The Sudanese Consul General in Aswan, southern Egypt, Ambassador Abdel Qader Abdullah, has confirmed that arrangements and preparations have been completed for the Sudanese School Certificate exams in the city and in the governorates of Upper Egypt, scheduled for April 13th. He noted that these exams are the ninth to be organized by the consulate from its headquarters in Aswan.

During a press conference held online and attended, Abdullah explained that the consulate has gained extensive experience in administering exams for Sudanese students at various levels (primary, intermediate, and secondary). He pointed out that the student who achieved first place in last year’s exams nationwide was from Aswan, the first incident of its kind. He added that the Sudanese consulate is working to create a suitable environment for the exams and that its role is to support the technical committee overseeing the examination process.

Alaa El-Din Abdel Rahman, head of the technical committee for the Aswan Examination Center, has meanwhile pointed to the hardship students faced in previous years, as there was no examination center in Aswan before the war, forcing them to travel to Cairo to take their exams. He explained that the establishment of the Aswan center represented a qualitative leap that contributed to alleviating the burdens and costs on families and students, noting the contribution of several Egyptian and foreign organizations in providing logistical support.

He added that 2024 witnessed a remarkable improvement in the level of services, to the point that the Aswan center became one of the best centers in terms of financial discipline and its freedom from academic irregularities.

Abdel Rahman indicated that the center evolved from an idea into a distinguished model that contributed to the stability of the educational process. He expressed his gratitude to several organizations and associations, including Save the Children, Khair wa Baraka, Catholic Relief Services, and the Southern Women’s Association, for their role in paying the exam fees for a large number of students, in addition to the fees for seating numbers, which amount to 6,000 Egyptian pounds for the exams and 715 pounds for the seating numbers.

Abdel Rahman also explained that accommodation and living expenses have been provided for the students coming from outside Aswan, numbering about 200 students, near the Al-Radwan Center in Aswan, which the Egyptian government has designated for taking the exams. He indicated that the number of applicants has exceeded 950 male and female students so far, with registration still open.
