Gum Arabic Exporters:More Export Outlets to Curb Smuggling

Sudanhorizon – Nazik Shamam

The Gum Arabic Exporters Division emphasized the need for a series of decisions to enable the export sector to fulfill its role in supporting the national economy.

The head of the division, Ahmed Al-Tayeb Al-Anan, has stressed the importance of unifying export fees through a single window to prevent double taxation.

In a statement to Sudanhorizon, Al-Anan called for regulating markets so that auctions for export goods are limited to representatives of exporting companies only, while working to exclude middlemen from these transactions. He pointed out to the need for designating export transport routes exclusively to regulated outlets so as to curb smuggling operations.

Al-Anan also noted the importance of revising the exporters’ registry and establishing strict controls that define the criteria for a genuine exporter. He further emphasized the need to provide medium- and long-term financing for exporting companies.

Al-Anan called for incentives to be offered to exporters who exceed specific quantities or amounts, noting the importance of increasing the number of correspondent banks to facilitate the repatriation of export proceeds. He also stressed the need to open additional offices for shipping agents, given that some shipments are experiencing delays of up to a month.
