The Higher Economic Committee: Regular Forces Salary Increase, Effective Immediately

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris chaired a meeting of the Higher Economic Committee on Monday. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Lamia Abdel Ghaffar, ministers of the economic sector, and a number of officials from relevant agencies.
Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Aisir, explained in a press statement that the meeting addressed a number of important topics, including increasing the salaries of state employees.
The meeting approved the immediate implementation of the salary increase for regular forces included in the 2026 state budget, in addition to discussing the period related to civil servants and the retirement age.
The meeting also heard a report presented by the Governor of the Gezira Scheme on the efforts of the project’s management, in coordination with relevant authorities, to revamp the project after the systematic destruction and devastation inflicted by the Rapid Support Forces militia. The meeting commended the achievements made in this regard and affirmed its commitment to overcoming all challenges and obstacles facing the Gezira Scheme.
Al-Aisir added that the meeting reviewed the status of petroleum imports in light of regional developments, and the Ministry of Energy’s efforts to provide electricity generators and stabilize the power supply in the capital, Khartoum.
Furthermore, the meeting directed the formation of a committee, chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, to review customs duties and taxes on building materials. The committee is to submit its report to the Higher Economic Committee within one week.
