Cabinet: Plans to Increase Electricity Generation, Involve Private Sector

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning revealed plans to increase electricity generation (hydro and thermal) and involve the private sector in renewable energy generation projects, in addition to offering investment opportunities in unexplored oil blocks.
A meeting of the Economic Development Sector of the Cabinet, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, on Sunday reaffirmed the need for strengthening the country’s strategic oil and energy reserves.
The Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Ahmed Al-Dirdiri Ghandour, reviewed the ministry’s plan to expand communication and internet networks to include underserved areas, with the aim of integrating them into the government, educational, and digital services system, in addition to government digital transformation projects, particularly in the areas of financial transactions and foreign trade.
The meeting also emphasized the need to develop the livestock sector by improving the meat industry and the processing of animal products to increase the added value, while giving special attention to veterinary services and quarantine facilities, and localizing the veterinary pharmaceutical and drug manufacturing industry within the country.
