41 Hospitals, 243 Health Centers Operating at Full Capacity in Khartoum

The health authorities in Khartoum State officially announced on Sunday that at least 41 hospitals and 243 health centers across the state’s seven localities, are now fully operational.

During an expanded meeting regarding the operation of hospitals and health centers, the State Ministry of Health issued urgent directives to reopen specialized hospitals, including the Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital in Khartoum, Taha Ba’ashar Hospital for Mental and Psychological care, the Dermatology Hospital in Khartoum, Jaber Abu Al-Ezz Hospital for Diabetes Treatment, the Neurology Center at Ibrahim Malik Hospital, Abu Anja Hospital for Chest Diseases, and the Children’s Diabetes Center.

According to a press release, this comes in implementation of the Ministry’s plan for this year to complete the operation of hospitals and centers at full capacity.

The meeting also finalized coordination for securing electricity for hospitals that are still in the process of fully operating,as well as securing facilities, clearing mines and debris resulting from the war, and providing furniture.

The meeting emphasized the need to create the conducive atmosphere for all centers across the state and assess their needs. It directed that the state’s government, executive directors, and partners be contacted to contribute to the reactivation and completion of operations at health institutions across Khartoum State. This followed the meeting’s review and discussion of the data and statistics about hospitals and centers operating in the state and their needs in the final review stage.

The Khartoum State Ministry of Health’s media office indicated that there are 20 hospitals operating in the Greater Omdurman area, 12 in Greater Bahri, and 9 in Greater Khartoum. Additionally, there are 104 health centers operating in Greater Omdurman, 22 in Khartoum, 31 in Jabal Awliya, 34 in Bahri, and 51 in East Nile.
