Swiss President Announces Continued Support for Peace Efforts in Sudan

Sudan’s Ambassador accredited to the Swiss Confederation met today with Swiss Federal President Guy Parmelin on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony and the start of the New Year. During the meeting, Ambassador Hamed conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to the Swiss President.
In the course of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his hope for Switzerland’s backing and support for the “Government of Hope Peace Initiative” submitted by the Prime Minister, Professor Kamel Al-Tayeb Idris, to the United Nations Security Council. He commended Switzerland’s positions and underscored the importance of its valued role in supporting Sudan during this phase.
For his part, the Swiss President affirmed that his country would continue to provide support for efforts to establish peace in Sudan.
