Turkish President and Saudi Crown Prince Discuss Regional and International Developments

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has received a phone call on Sunday from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during which they discussed the latest regional and international developments.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the call included a review of bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as discussions on regional and international developments. They also discussed a number of issues of common interest and the efforts being made to address them in order to achieve security and stability.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan and Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed bilateral relations, in addition to regional and international issues.

The Turkish Anadolu Agency reported that Erdoğan expressed his hope during the call for “further deepening cooperation between Turkey and Saudi Arabia through the steps that will be taken in the coming period.”

He noted that “Turkey is closely monitoring developments in Somalia and Yemen,” stressing that “protecting the territorial integrity of Somalia and Yemen is of paramount importance for regional stability,” according to Anadolu Agency.

Erdogan also expressed “Turkey’s readiness to contribute to efforts aimed at bringing the parties in Yemen together,” emphasizing that “the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening with the onset of winter.”

He added that “Turkey continues to work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire and the reconstruction of Gaza.”

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan made a telephone conversation on Saturday with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, during which they discussed the latest developments in the region and the efforts being made regarding them, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
