Waiting for Ababil: A Wake-Up Call to a Sleeping Ummah
By: Salim Mohamed Badat **
A billion and a half Muslims waiting for the Ababil? By Allah, if the Ababil came, it would stone us instead.
In the Quranic narrative of Surah Al-Fil, the Ababil birds were divinely sent to pelt an invading army with stones of baked clay, defending the Kaaba from destruction. It was a moment of miraculous intervention, a sign of Allah’s support for those who stood with Him.
Today, many Muslims are trapped in a passive illusion, waiting again for Ababil-like miracles to rescue us from our political impotence, moral collapse, and spiritual decay. We imagine angels or birds will descend to destroy the Zionist entity and liberate Palestine, while we ourselves remain disunited, compromised, and consumed by worldly distractions.
But by Allah, what have we done to deserve divine intervention?
We live in a time where tyrants are embraced and the brave are abandoned. Sectarianism poisons our speech. The cries of Gaza are muffled by celebrations of football scores and luxury. Mosques echo with ritual, but hearts are hollowvoid of justice, courage, or mercy.
And yet, today, something shifted.
Today, by the grace of Allah, we have witnessed the vulnerability of Israel. And more than that, we’ve witnessed the purity of intention, bravery, and manhood in the Nation of Islam rising to confront not only Israel, but the entire Western world behind it. Iran, long maligned and vilified, has stood firm, unapologetic, fearless, and ready to embrace martyrdom if need be.
How do you defeat a nation that welcomes martyrdom? You cannot. This is not a state mobilizing armies for land or oil. This is a nation fighting for dignity, for justice, and for Allah.
Iran has shattered the myth that Muslims must wait for divine help without lifting a finger. No, struggle and jihad are the prerequisites for Allah’s support. Divine assistance is not gifted to those who are idle; it is earned by those who fight for truth even when they stand alone.
Let the Salafi-Wahhabi-Zionist mouthpieces who continue to spew sectarian hate against Iran be exposed for what they are. The Ummah sees you now. You are not protecting tawheed, you are protecting the thrones of tyrants and the silence of cowards. You divide the Ummah while Gaza burns.
Today, in shaa Allah, the Muslim world begins to awaken. It is Iran, not the Arab League, not the petrodollar monarchs, that has reminded us: we do not have to wait for angels when we are called to become soldiers of justice.
Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. (Qur’an 13:11)
So let us stop dreaming of birds from the sky while doing nothing on earth. Stop hoping for miracles while we neglect the mujahideen. Stop hiding behind duas while others carry the burden of struggle.
The Ababil will not descend for a people who refuse to stand for themselves. If anything, they might descend as a warning, to strike us for our cowardice, our betrayal, our delay.
We don’t need birds.
We need men.
Until then, perhaps the silence of the heavens is louder than any stone.
