The Qatari Amiri Diwan announces the death of the “Father Emir,”

The Qatari Amiri Diwan announced early this morning (Sunday) the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of Qatar and father of the current Emir, known as the “Father Emir,” after a brief illness.
The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, sent a telegram of condolence today to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the death of his father, offering his condolences to the ruling family and the Qatari people on their great loss.
According to the telegram, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, after offering condolences for the deceased, said that in mourning the late Emir, “he is mourning for the Arab and Islamic nation one of its symbols and leaders, who contributed to establishing the foundations of peace and stability in the region.” He added: “The deceased was known for his great contributions to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and love between Arab and Islamic countries, in addition to his great roles in the fields of humanitarian and charitable work.”
