Sudan’s FM Condemns Rapid Support Forces Militia Massacring Civilians in North Kordofan

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has condemned the massacre perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces militia in the Umm Saadoun and Al-Murra areas, North Kordofan State, on the second day of Eid al-Adha, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians and injuries to many others.

Official estimates indicate that at least 61 civilians were killed in the militia attacks.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that carrying out this attack on a great religious occasion that celebrates the values of mercy, tolerance, and solidarity reveals the extent of the militia’s disregard for human and moral values, and confirms its determination to target innocent civilians and spread fear and suffering among local communities.
According to the statement, these attacks targeted unarmed civilians in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law. This reflects the militia’s hostile approach of targeting, terrorizing, and displacing civilians, and undermining security and stability throughout the country.
The statement added that the Government of Sudan holds the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) terrorist militia and its regional and international backers fully responsible for this crime and its humanitarian consequences. It affirms that the continued provision of military, financial, and logistical support to the militia directly enables it to perpetrate further crimes and violations against the Sudanese people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation appealed to the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, the African Union, and human rights organizations to take a clear and unequivocal stance against this massacre, to condemn it unequivocally, and to act urgently to hold those responsible and those who support the militia accountable. It also called for the necessary measures to be taken to protect civilians and end impunity.
The ministry reiterated its call to designate the Rapid Support Forces militia as “a terrorist organization”, given its continued record of committing mass killings, targeting civilians, destroying public and private property, and committing serious violations amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
