Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Paris to “Global Africa” Channel: The International Community Must Hold Those Responsible for War Crimes in Sudan Accountable
Paris – Sudanhorizon
The news channel “Global Africa” has conducted a television interview with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in France, Hamid Al-Jazouli Khalid.
The interview, which marked the first anniversary of El Fasher massacre, covered developments in the war in Sudan, the violations witnessed in the city of El Fasher, the external support received by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias, and the efforts of Sudanese diplomacy to counter schemes aimed at undermining the country’s unity.
Al-Jazouli called on the international community to fulfill its legal and humanitarian responsibilities by holding those responsible for these atrocities accountable and ensuring they do not escape punishment. He noted that the past year saw one of the most heinous massacres and humanitarian atrocities committed against civilians in El Fasher, following a siege that lasted nearly two years—persisting despite repeated pleas from the local population and a UN Security Council resolution calling for the siege to be lifted.
Regarding external support for the rebel Rapid Support Forces militias , Al-Jazouli asserted that various international and media reports have confirmed that the United Arab Emirates provides multiple forms of support and military assistance to the RSF. This includes the use of drones—which he stated are launched from Ethiopian territory—to target vital facilities and infrastructure, such as power and water stations. He urged the international community to take action to halt this support and cut off the militia’s supply sources.
The Sudanese diplomat explained that, following the failure of its plot to seize power in the country, the rebel group moved to form a so-called “foundational” parallel government outside the state’s constitutional framework. He emphasized that, thanks to the efforts of Sudanese diplomacy, this entity has failed to secure any international recognition or support. He added that the positions taken by international organizations and the African Union—rejecting the formation of parallel governments—reflect a commitment to Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as a rejection of any steps that could lead to the fragmentation of the country.
Concluding the discussion, the Sudanese diplomat congratulated the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on their recent victories in the Kordofan sector. He commended their efforts and affirmed that they would continue their operations aimed at restoring security and stability, and extending the state’s sovereignty across the entire Sudanese territory.
