Sudan’s Attorney General Inspects Seized Items After the War

The Sudanese Attorney General, Ms. Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, head of the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, along with several committee members, inspected the Khartoum Exhibition Center Thursday.

The center houses a number of seized items and exhibits suspected of being among the property looted during the militia Rapid Support Forces’ (RSF) control of large parts of Khartoum State.

The Attorney General was received at the center by Ahmed Osman Hamza, Governor of Khartoum State, and members of the State Security Committee.

During the visit, the Attorney General reviewed the quantity of seized items and the mechanisms for their storage and security. She directed that the necessary legal measures be taken regarding the items, according to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).

The attorney called on people who were victims of theft during the war to go to police stations and the impound lots, to identify and retrieve their belongings according to established legal procedures. She also commended the significant role played by the security forces and relevant authorities in recovering, documenting, and preserving the stolen items.

For his part, the Governor of Khartoum State affirmed his support for all efforts aimed at protecting citizens’ rights and recovering their property, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to overcoming all challenges facing search and inspection teams and relevant authorities.

It is worth noting that the center houses exhibits seized by 20 police stations across Khartoum State, most notably those in the local market, Khartoum East, and Riyadh districts.
