Eyewitnesses have shared new information with the Susanhorizon news site regarding the tactics adopted by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Khartoum State.
According to the witnesses, the militia has begun targeting prominent figures and community leaders, as well as public gathering spots in the state.
Eyewitnesses reported that the militia primarily targets communal food distribution centres (tekayas) in Omdurman and key community figures in insecure areas of the state.
One eyewitness from the Al-Daraja Al-Thalitha neighbourhood in Khartoum provided new details about the assassination of a former national football team player and Al-Ahli Khartoum coach, Yasser Al-Haj, which occurred on Friday. The witness stated that RSF members had recently been monitoring Yasser Al-Haj’s activities, including managing sports tournaments and coordinating tekayas in the area. They ambushed him as he exited a mosque in Block 11, stopping him immediately and firing a barrage of bullets, killing him on the spot before taking his bicycle.
Captain Yasser was a prominent sports figure in Khartoum, attracting the attention of Premier League stars and former players.
In related incidents, the militia shelled several tekaya locations in Omdurman yesterday. One citizen was killed in Al-Thawra, Block 1, while others were injured.
