Diplomatic sources familiar with the question have revealed in a statement to Sudanhorizon news website the details regarding the entry ban imposed on Sudan and several other countries by the Trump administration, which announced on June 6.
The sources suggested that the delay may be due to a review of the details concerning the categories exempted from the proclamation.
“The Sudanhorizon” received information related to the exemptions that will be included in the U.S. administration’s proclamation for citizens of African countries affected by the entry ban, including Sudan.
The sources indicated that the exemptions includes legal residents, holders of valid visas, and those whose entry the U.S. administration deems to be in the interest of the United States.
According to sources the Sudanhorizon has revealed that the exemption from the ban includes diplomats and official employees assigned to official tasks at embassies in Washington or the United Nations in New York.
The decision also excluded athletes participating in the World Cup or the Olympics and holders of dual citizenship, as well as the immediate family members of permanent residents, provided that this is double-checked through DNA testing.
The Sources added that the decision did not address the cessation of protection granted to Sudanese nationals residing in the United States due to the war, and it is not expected that the status of those covered by that situation will be affected by the new decision
