Sudanese Telecom Companies Affirm their Commitment to Digital Transformation

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, stressed the importance of the role of telecommunications companies in the digital transformation in the country and keeping pace with global developments in its field.

The Minister held an expanded meeting with the directors of telecommunications companies, in his office in Port Sudan (Tuesday), with the participation of the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, to discuss the arrangements required to benefit from the telecommunications sector to implement the electronic payment project and the transition to digital systems with the aim of facilitating the collection of financial revenues and avoiding cash payment for government transactions in compliance with the general trend towards digital transformation, according to a circular published by the Ministry of Finance Media.

In the meeting, the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Eng. Adel Hassan, stressed the commitment to covering the networks for all electronic collection points in all targeted states, and providing solutions to ensure that the points are connected to the network; while Professor Abdullah Ibrahim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, stressed the importance of the role of telecommunications companies and described them as the cornerstone of digital transformation and said that they represent the basic infrastructure for digitizing the services and activities of government sectors.

Telecommunications companies have committed to providing technical solutions and chips for the network connection process. The importance of accelerating the payment process via regular phone was also emphasized, enabling citizens to transfer their money using all types of phones and anywhere without the need for Internet networks. The companies’ support for the state’s efforts to implement the electronic collection project and complete the required arrangements between the two parties to implement it and ensure stability was emphasized.
