Sudanese Army Refutes Militia Claims of Seizing Babanusa

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Tuesday denied claims by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia that they had seized the city of Babanusa, West Kordofan State, the office of the SAF official spokesperson said in a statement
The statement issued this morning said that the militia has been “targeting the city of Babanusa daily with artillery shelling and strategic drones, and yesterday the militia launched a new attack on the city, which our forces thwarted decisively.”
It added that this comes as a continuation of the militia’s approach “of misleading international, regional, and local public opinion, at a time when the leader of the terrorist Daglo Clan Hemedti militia has announced a ceasefire and a unilateral truce.”
The Armed Forces statement affirmed that “the so-called truce announced by the lying rebel Hemedti is nothing but a misleading political and media maneuver aimed at covering up their field movements and the continued flow of UAE assistance to fuel the war and kill Sudanese people.”
The statement said SAF would like to reaffirm that the Sudanese army is committed to international humanitarian law, protecting civilians and facilitating humanitarian action, and will not allow the humanitarian situation to be exploited as a cover for military actions that exacerbate the crisis, and will continue to perform their duty in protecting the state and citizens with full responsibility and competence.
