Al-Hilal Prepares for Algerian MCA, Awaits CAF Response
Nouakchott – Sudanhorizon
Sudanese football club Al-Hilal is awaiting a response from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding a new request to relocate its designated home venue from the Cheikha Boïdiya Stadium in Nouakchott to Libyan stadiums. This follows the Mauritanian Football Federation’s decision to close Cheikha Boïdiya Stadium for maintenance in compliance with CAF’s Stadiums Committee recommendations.
Due to contractual obligations with the tournament’s broadcasting partner, CAF had previously rejected Al-Hilal’s request to move their matches to Tripoli or Benghazi.
Al-Hilal’s management has since received approval from the Libyan Football Federation and assurances that the broadcaster will be facilitated to cover the match as scheduled.
The Sudanese club is set to host Algeria’s MC Alger (MCA) on January 3 in the fourth round of Group A fixtures.
Al-Hilal currently tops its group with a perfect record of 9 points, having defeated Tanzania’s Young Africans, DR Congo’s TP Mazembe, and MC Alger. The team needs just one point from their remaining matches to secure qualification for the next stage.
