Sudan participated officially, represented by the head of the Sudanese mission in Paris, Ambassador Dr. Khaled Farah, in opening the Africa Station project in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis Island last Saturday. Engineer Ahmed Abu Al-Qasim Hashim, head of the Sudanese Olympic Committee, also participated from Sudan’s side, raising the Sudanese flag on the stage among the Flags of the countries participating in the project.

Ambassador Farah considered the mere participation of Sudan in a delegation that included about 15 members from various competing groups, the president and secretary of the Olympic Committee, administrators, media professionals, and coaches, in light of these harsh circumstances that the country is going through, to be considered a worthy achievement in itself.

In an interview with the Sudanhorizon & Almohagig websites, the ambassador did not rule out that all the players participating in the Paris Olympics would be their first forum and Olympic participation, considering that participation, in light of the current difficulties that Sudan is experiencing as a result of the war and the fierce competition, is from international players with previous experience and from stable countries that spend generously on athletes.

Contrary to what Sudanese representatives face, what is happening on its territory is an appreciated step. He added that the mere fact that the champions passed the first rounds is considered an outstanding achievement for the participants.

It is worth noting that the Sudanese player Musa Haggar Safi, the representative of refugees in the world, will begin his career in the championship in the 800-meter athletics race on the seventh of next August. Safi is considered a Sudanese athlete but not on the official list. However, his achievement during the competition was in favour of Sudan, and he called on the Sudanese heroes to support him during his heroic journey.

The Sudanese Olympic Committee, headed by Engineer Ahmed Abu Al-Qasim Hashem, announced last Wednesday a list of male and female players participating in the Paris Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11. The committee stated that the size of the delegation participating in the Olympic Games includes four players and three coaches, along with an administrator and a representative of the media office, to the Olympic Committee.

Khaled Abdullah Hamad, head of the Sudanese delegation participating in the Paris Olympics, said that the delegation consists of three federations, two players for water sports (swimming) and one player for each of athletics and rowing.

He added that swimming participation comes through swimmer Ziad Salim in the 200m backstroke competitions, swimmer Rana Hani in the 100m freestyle competitions, alongside runner Yass Ahmed Ezz El-Din Abdullah in the marathon athletics race, and rower Abdullah Al-Arabi in the men’s heavyweight individual rowing competitions, indicating The list of coaches accompanying the mission includes Abed Hammour (swimming), Tunisian Shukri Ben Miled (rowing), and Azaz Moussa (athletics), in addition to Nizar Hamdan (administrative).

He pointed out that participation comes under very complex circumstances due to the war and that there are great challenges and difficulties that the mission faces in preparing and preparing in the required manner in light of the critical situation that the country is experiencing. Still, he returned and expressed his hope and confidence in the heroes of Sudan to make every effort to raise the name of Sudan high in this major sporting event.
