Sudan Doctors Network: 6 Killed in RSF Attack at El-Obeid Hospital

The Sudan Doctors Network announced the deaths of 6 people and the injury of 14 others because of a missile attack by the Rapid Support Forces targeting Al-Daman Hospital in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State.

In a statement published on Friday and seen by Sudanhorizon, the network revealed that the hospital was put out of service as a result of deliberate bombing by the RSF, which had been providing services to a wide range of civilians in the three Kordofan states.

The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the Rapid Support Forces’ deliberate targeting of the medical sector and operating hospitals in El Obeid, North Kordofan State.

The statement indicated that the hospital’s disruption is a continuation of the disruption of the medical sector, which has been devastated by the ongoing war since April 2023. The Rapid Support Forces have targeted the medical infrastructure, causing at least 80% of hospitals in several Sudanese states to close due to systematic looting and destruction.

The network called on the UN and international organisations to pressure the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to stop targeting medical facilities and prevent the collapse of the medical sector.

The network noted that the catastrophic consequences of the attacks in Khartoum and El Fasher have deprived millions of citizens of medical care.

It also called on international organisations working in the medical sector to urgently reactivate medical facilities and provide urgent medical supplies to meet needs and restore the health system in all areas affected by the destruction and looting across the country.
