The Central Bank of Sudan has announced ongoing efforts to activate the electronic clearing system in the coming days.

During her visit today to Gezira State, Central Bank Governor Amna Mirghani stated that “the economic battle is no less fierce than the military one.”

She highlighted the scale of the systematic destruction that has affected the country’s infrastructure and banking sector, and she outlined the Bank’s reform plan, including support for banks through regional and international financing funds.

Mirghani urged the Gezira State Government to prepare comprehensive feasibility studies for projects requiring financing, and she discussed arrangements for funding the agricultural season in coordination with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

The Governor affirmed the Central Bank’s efforts to attract microfinance institutions and open branches across the states, pledging the Bank’s support for economic activity in Gezira State.

She also referred to her visits to Nile River and Khartoum states, as well as plans to visit the remaining states, announcing that the Bank will resume operations from Khartoum within a month.

For his part, the Acting Governor of Gezira State praised the staff of the Central Bank’s Wad Madani branch, noting that they were among the first to return to the city after its liberation.

He reviewed the latest security and economic developments, confirming that the state is recovering and highlighting ongoing industrial and agricultural projects, as well as the Central Bank’s major role in supporting production and economic stability. He also called for the removal of obstacles hindering the financing of development projects.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme provided a briefing on preparations for the winter agricultural season and commended the Central Bank’s recent decision to exempt credit inquiry fees.
