Sudan and South Sudan Re-commit to Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Sudan and South Sudan have renewed their full commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation and to work together to build a more secure, stable, and prosperous future for the people of the two nations.
The South Sudan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mande Samaya, and his accompanying delegation, concluded a three-day official visit to Port Sudan. They held in-depth discussions that addressed ways to improve cooperation between the two countries in various fields, as well as regional and international issues of common interest, according to a joint statement issued Monday at the conclusion of the visit.
The statement added that the two sides emphasized the depth of the historical and fraternal relations between the two countries, and the shared commitment to strengthening them to serve the interests of the two peoples.
The two sides also emphasized the importance and need for exchanging bilateral and technical visits, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Minister of Oil, and the Minister of Interior at the forefront of these visits.
It was also agreed that visits by senior ministers from South Sudan to Sudan, would follow this visit y the minister for foreign relations.
The joint statement stated that the two countries agreed to activate political consultation mechanisms between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on a regular basis, and to exchange visits at all levels.
They also commended the joint efforts to support the efforts for achieving peace and stability in the two countries and the region, and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in the areas of combating terrorism, exchanging security information, and enhancing border security.
