Sudan and Russia Move Forward to Establish Strategic Relations

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, welcomed the development of relations with Russia into strategic cooperation relations.
The Minister confirmed during his meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Sudan, Mr.Andrei Chernovol, at the Ministry on Tuesday, the readiness of the Sudanese government to establish strategic cooperation relations in the economic field, and expressed Sudan’s readiness to pay Russia’s dues if the Russian Ministry of Finance determines the payment mechanism.
For his part, the Russian Ambassador revealed official arrangements for the visit of three delegations of businessmen from the Russian Chamber of Commerce to Sudan during the coming period and coordination with the relevant government agencies to sign agreements with the Sudanese side in the fields of energy, ports and electricity, stressing the Russian side’s interest in investing in the fields of infrastructure, calling for the identification of a map of Sudan’s priorities that takes into account the balance of developing the targeted areas.
