Slaughtering the Islamists

By Rashid Abdel Rahim

The second in command of the Rapid Support Forces militia, Abdel Rahim Daglo, has instructed his forces to slaughter the kizan (a populist name for the Islamists) telling them, “Kill any Islamist right away, and no one shall protect them or object to their being killed.”
He said this to the forces he had mobilized to head to the northern regions and the Nile River state.

According to the rebellion’s understanding, the northern regions are the stronghold of the Islamists. Hemedti has repeatedly reiterated this, and their spokesman, Al-Rabi’, and many of their leaders have confirmed this several times, in documented accounts, especially on the X platform.

Since the outbreak of the war, these thugs have pinpointed their enemies as the Islamists, the army, the forces fighting alongside them, and the mujahideen.

In the general understanding of the Sudanese people a “kooz” is someone affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood. The phrase “Religion is an ocean, and we are the kizan (religion is a river and we the mug serving from it) is attributed to one of their leaders, meaning that they are the ones who “serve” religion for the people.

Daglo and his rebels have not provided a definition of who are the “Kizan” in their belief. They apply this label to anyone they want to kill, accusing them of being a member of the intelligence services or affiliated to the armed forces, even if they are not in active service.

This means that we are envisaging liquidation and slaughtering operations against anyone affiliated to the “Kizan,” even if they were civilians who did not participate in the war, any one with some valuables wealth or a house coveted by the “brave” ones, or whose appearance indicated piety, whether through growing a beard or frequenting mosques. This description would also include many Islamist groups, such as Ansar al-Sunna and Sufi orders.

We are facing the killing of civilians, whether they are members of the “Kizan” or those they seek to kill, on Daglo’s orders.

Killings are carried out on suspicion or premeditation, without trial, and without informing their families after their liquidation, depending on the killer’s whims and classification of the victim. Rather, the killing is taking place in their midst, targeting those who oppose their actions. He said, “Anyone who opposes the mobilization will be killed immediately… will be liquidated immediately… and we will shoot him.”

Abdel Rahim’s speech to his forces, which he directed to the northern region, was full of numerous killing directives, including the killing of every arm and ammunition dealer.

Even the officers of his forces who fled the fighting were not spared from Daglo’s bloody directives. He described them as “deserters who opted to enjoy the company of their mothers and their women.”

Anyone who fails to report to the front within hours would be dismissed and tried, and the decision for dismissal precedes that of trial.
This bloody commander was unable to control his forces in previous battles, which he described as being in “the wrong options,” and would be even more horrific when they fight in the right place which they were directed to attack.

This is the first commander to make such utterances that contravene all local and international laws and violate the principles of justice and democracy that they promised the Sudanese people. The rebellion promises the people of Sudan a more hideous, more widespread, and more ugly sight than they have ever seen before.
