Significant Moves by Sudan’s Mission in Geneva Regarding Crimes of RSF Militia

Geneva – Maryam Abasher – Exclusive

The Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations in Geneva submitted, on Sunday, a strongly-worded memorandum to the President of the Human Rights Council and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the heinous crime committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia against innocent civilians in the Sabreen market in the Karari locality of Omdurman.
According to exclusive information obtained by the “Sudanhorizon” news website, the memorandum has been circulated to all international organizations and diplomatic missions accredited in Geneva. A copy of the memorandum and the statement issued by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been submitted to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the same context, “Sudanhorizon” confirmed that the mission in Geneva has already begun holding meetings with the heads of relevant organisations, bodies, and member states of the Human Rights Council regarding this crime, which represents a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and the Geneva Conventions. The mission emphasised that the violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia further confirm, more than ever, that the militia meets the criteria for classification as a terrorist group.
