A senior government source described the request put forward by the Rapid Support Forces militia delegation participating in the Geneva negotiations regarding freezing Sudan’s membership in the United Nations as absurd.

The source told the Sudanhorizon and Almohagig news websites: “The United Nations cannot discuss such a request, whether accepting or rejecting it), and that the matter is nothing more than ignorance of the international organization and its methods of work.

Reliable diplomatic sources revealed to the media that the representatives of the United Nations in Geneva rejected a request submitted by the rebel Rapid Support Forces, through its delegation that participated in the negotiations, requesting the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution to suspend Sudan’s membership in the international organization “due to the absence of a government in the country since October 2021, in addition to the flight ban.

The Rapid Support Forces militia also demanded, according to electronic sites, the adoption of an alternative relief agency to the Humanitarian Aid Commission, and according to the sources, the United Nations also rejected this.
