Qatar Mining Company Announces Resumption of its Work in Sudan

The management of Qatar Mining Company announced its desire to resume work in the field of gold production at the company’s sites in Sudan after it stopped working as a result of the security situation that the country has been witnessing since April of last year.

The General Manager of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company Limited, Mohamed Taher Omar, revealed the actual commencement of practical steps for the return of the Qatari company and the resumption of its activities, and confirmed providing all forms of support to it to reach the production stage again, which benefits both countries.

During his meeting in his office in Port Sudan, on Thursday, with the Acting CEO of Qatar Mining Company and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Sudanese Mining Company Limited, Hamad Al-Athba, and the Director of Operations Department of Qatar Mining Company, Deputy General Manager and Board Member of Qatar Sudanese Mining Company Limited, Hamad Al-Jaber, Tahir referred to the measures taken by the Sudanese company with partners in the mining process to facilitate the tasks of foreign investments in the field of production. Muhammad Tahir called on large companies operating in the mining field to expand the scope of investments in the country, stressing that mining sites are free of any security threats.

The Minister of Minerals, Muhammad Bashir Abdullah, who received the delegation of the Qatari company this morning, on Thursday, had expressed his ministry’s readiness to overcome all difficulties facing foreign investments in the field of mining in the country, when he received in his office in Port Sudan the Acting CEO of Qatar Mining Company and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Sudanese Mining Company, Hamad Al-Athba.

For his part, the CEO of Qatar Mining Company announced their readiness to resume work at the company’s sites, noting that the meeting with the Minister of Minerals was intended to review the administrative and technical arrangements so that the company can resume work as soon as possible.
