Professional Journalists Association Calls for Designation of RSF as a Terrorist Organization

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The President of the Sudanese Professional Journalists Association, Mohamed Mostafa Al-Mamoun, has called on the international community, UN agencies, human rights organizations, and the International Federation of Journalists to fulfill their responsibilities and pressure the leaders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to release journalist Muammar Ibrahim, who was captured in El Fasher and appeared in verified videos and posts showing him in RSF custody.

In statements made on Tuesday, Al-Mamoun said the massacres committed by the RSF against unarmed civilians, women, children, journalists, and Red Crescent workers are sufficient grounds to classify the militia as a terrorist organization.

He urged both local and international media institutions to intensify efforts to document RSF crimes and violations, emphasizing the importance of exposing the extent of atrocities committed.

Al-Mamoun, widely known as “Wad Al-Mamoun,” also called on government bodies and authorities to provide data, information, and documentation to journalists, enabling the media to perform its role in truth-telling and accountability.
