Sudan Embassy in Nairobi: Suspension of Imports from Kenya a Sovereign Decision

The Sudanese Embassy in Nairobi announced that the decision to stop importing Kenyan products is a sovereign decision which takes effect as from the date of its issuance, March 11, 2025.
The embassy has explained in a press statement received by Sudanhorizon on Tuesday that the Sudanese Ministry of Trade and Supply issued this decision in line with the national interests of the country, and that it has been fully implemented and observed.
The statement said since then, no Kenyan products have been imported into Sudan, including Kenyan tea.
The Embassy also stressed that Sudan remains committed to this trade policy within the framework of sovereign economic and diplomatic considerations, stressing that any alleged reports of continued import of Kenyan products were unfounded.
The statement has underlined that at the same time, the Embassy reiterated Sudan’s commitment to regional cooperation and constructive dialogue, based on the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states
