Pre-Declaration Workshop Calls for Tighter Coordination to Achieve Program Objectives

The Customs Authority held a workshop on pre-declaration of shipments, Sunday evening, attended by Major General Nabigh Al-Madani, Assistant Director General for Compliance and Facilitation and Head of the Pre-Declaration of Shipments Committee, and representatives from the Red Sea State Chamber of Customs Clearance Agents.
The workshop discussed developing and modernizing customs procedures and facilitating trade. It also addressed the fundamental concepts of the pre-declaration system and its objectives in expediting clearance procedures, reducing the time shipments spend at ports, enhancing transparency, and improving the efficiency of customs operations.
Participants reviewed the expected roles of customs clearance agents in the successful implementation of the pre-declaration system, the practical challenges they might face, and ways to address them. They emphasized the importance of partnership between the Customs Authority and the Chamber of Customs Clearance Agents to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the pre-declaration system.
Participants noted that the system represents a qualitative leap in customs operations and contributes to improving the business environment and supporting the national economy.
The workshop witnessed an interactive discussion and interventions from representatives of the Chamber of Customs Clearance Agents, which included a call to enhance coordination and continuous training, in order to ensure the achievement of the desired goals of implementing the pre-disclosure system for shipments.
