National security Council Bans Armed Personnel from Mining Areas, Orders Special Courts for Drug and Smuggling Crimes

Sudan’s National Security and Defense Council has decided to prohibit members of the regular armed forces and supporting forces from operating in mining areas and ordered the confiscation of military weapons and vehicles found in violation of the directive. The council also approved the establishment of special courts to handle cases involving drug-related crimes, human trafficking, arms smuggling, and gold smuggling.

The decisions were announced following the council’s meeting in Khartoum on Sunday, chaired by General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces.

At the outset of the meeting, the council reviewed the country’s overall security situation, assessed the progress of ongoing military operations, and examined measures aimed at strengthening security and stability.

According to a statement issued by the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media office, the council congratulated the Sudanese Armed Forces, other regular forces, supporting forces, and the Sudanese people on what it described as victories achieved across various battlefronts. It also paid tribute to those killed in the conflict, wished a speedy recovery to the wounded, called for the release of prisoners, and expressed hope for the return of those reported missing.

The council further reviewed the operational plans and preparedness of the Sudanese Armed Forces, regular forces, and supporting forces to defend the country and safeguard its security and sovereignty. It also discussed challenges facing national security and adopted a number of decisions and measures intended to strengthen the rule of law and combat organized crime.

The Security and Defense Council reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continuing measures aimed at protecting national security, reinforcing the rule of law, and addressing all security threats in order to preserve the country’s stability and ensure the safety of its citizens.
