The Governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minnawi, stated that the city of El Fasher and the displacement camps around it are “witnessing organised genocide carried out selectively by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.”
In a post on his Facebook account on Sunday, Minnawi pointed out that the RSF’s disregard for international, regional, and United Nations resolutions “reflects their cowardice and lack of humanity.” He added, “Unfortunately, the world is standing by watching this massacre. But we must remember that their dream of controlling the Darfur region has become nothing more than a pipe dream. We will not allow them to take the city as long as we are alive, and we will continue on our path to liberate the rest of the region’s cities.”
Minnawi concluded his post by paying tribute to “our heroes stationed in the trenches and defensive positions,” assuring them that “victory is near. The whole world will learn that the will of the people cannot be broken and that protecting our homeland is our highest goal.”
