Ministry of Oil: Several Import Companies Fulfill the Gold Guarantee Requirement Set by CBS

Well Informed sources at the Ministry of Energy and Oil revealed that several companies importing petroleum products have fulfilled the requirements recently issued by the Ministry and the Central Bank of Sudan (CBS). These companies deposited the gold guarantee stipulated in the requirements with the Sudan Gold Refinery Company Limited, as confirmed by analysis certificates from the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization. This qualified them for a no-objection certificate to import oil.

For its part, the Central Bank of Sudan (CBS) has affirmed that this policy is part of a comprehensive plan to control and regulate the import of petroleum products, in full coordination with relevant ministries and authorities.
The CBS has recently requested the Ministries of Finance and Energy not to grant no-objection certificates to companies operating in the field of importing petroleum products until they deposit a gold guarantee of 200 kilograms of 21-karat gold.
