Ministry of Minerals Faces Accusation of Nepotism

The Gold Exporters Division has launched a fierce attack against the federal Ministry of Minerals, accusing it of favoritism in favor of certain companies.

A statement issued by the division, a copy of which was received by Sudanhorizon, explained that during a visit by its officials to Egypt, the ministry brought with it a group of new companies in the field of gold exports, that were not previously members of the Gold Exporters Division.

The statement called on the Prime Minister to open this file and conduct a fair and transparent investigation on the matter.

The division accused the ministry of facilitating procedures for these companies to export gold in Sudan and thus allowing them to purchase gold at prices higher than those on global stock exchanges, which contributed to the deterioration of the value of the Sudanese pound.

The statement stated that these companies have made huge gains at the expense of the people Sudan.

The statement called for a transparent investigation into these companies, which are causing the deterioration of the Sudanese economy.
