CAF Sets End of January as Date for African Nations Cup Draw

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially set January 27 as the date for the 2025 African Nations Cup draw, which will be held in Morocco.

Sudan is participating in the tournament finals for the ninth time after overcoming Ghana and Niger in Group A and advancing with group leader Angola.

On Thursday evening, the President of the Sudanese Football Association, Moatasem Jaafar, held an important meeting with the technical director of the national football team, Ghanaian Kwasi Appiah, at the Meridian Hotel in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The meeting discussed several topics related to the national team’s progress.

Jaafar stressed the federation’s keenness to overcome all obstacles facing the national team to reach the finals of all tournaments and to cooperate with the technical staff to implement the preparatory programs that help it achieve this. The federation president pledged to arrange a camp for the national team in the city of Taif if the team does not qualify for the African Nations Championship finals for locals and to discuss the possibility of playing friendly matches before the two decisive matches against Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers scheduled for March (2025).

The president renewed his keenness to solve all problems and put the federation’s capabilities at the disposal of the technical staff to reach the finals of all tournaments benefit from professionals from foreign leagues and holders of dual passports and search for Sudanese talents in all stadiums around the world under the supervision of the technical staff and to solve all the problems facing this in coordination with the Player Exploration Committee abroad.
