Minawi: Militia’s Plan to Depopulate North Darfur Doomed to Fail
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minawi, has accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia of implementing a plan to depopulate the North Darfur region of its original inhabitants through forced displacement and looting of property.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Minawi stated, “Our people in North Darfur are suffering from forced displacement, looting of property, and violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia.”
He added that the aim of these violations is to replace the original inhabitants with mercenaries and foreigners, referring to what he described as “the dream of establishing an emirate for the Dagalo family on our land.”
The governor asserted that this plan would fail, emphasizing that “this land has been watered with the blood of its people throughout history, and its sons have offered millions of martyrs in defense of honor and land. It will never be easy prey for anyone.”
He continued: “Anyone who dreams of establishing an emirate for the Dagalo family on our land and thinks they will succeed is deluded. History will record that this dream was shattered against the rock of the people’s steadfastness and their adherence to their rights.”
He added: “Any project built on killing, displacement, and the usurpation of rights is destined to fail. Time will tell.”
