Khartoum State: Arrangements Regarding Looted Items and Electricity for Khartoum Markets

Khartoum local authorities have announced arrangements for designating several locations to collect looted items recovered from citizens following the liberation of Khartoum. These items are currently held at police stations.
The locality’s periodic revenue meeting, held today, Sunday, and chaired by Acting Executive Director Kamal Awad Al-Karim Mustafa, confirmed that these locations were selected in accordance with state directives, paving the way for citizens to identify and reclaim their belongings according to established legal procedures.
In a related matter, the meeting revealed that priority will be given to markets operating within the locality in the distribution of new electricity transformers, along with strategic locations targeted for power restoration, in implementation of directives from the Higher Committee for Environmental Improvement in Khartoum State.
The meeting also instructed directors of administrative units to pay field visit to the markets targeted for organization and rehabilitation to finalize the work plan. This will be accompanied by intensive campaigns to remove waste, debris, war remnants, and weeds, and to eliminate haphazard and unregulated activities.
The meeting also announced the completion of the formation of the Higher Committee and its subcommittees concerned with the reconstruction of schools destroyed by the war.
It was decided that maintenance and rehabilitation work would be completed within two months to ensure readiness for the start of the new academic year.
The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of the campaigns to remove informal settlements at the Karkar and Stadium transportation hubs and on main streets. This included the closure of shisha cafes, coffee shops, and tea vendors operating on public roads, while the rehabilitation of public parks continues to prepare the environment for the return of citizens.
The meeting also reviewed the status of revenue collection for 2025, commending the results achieved by the local sanitation authority and administrative units. The meeting directed that efforts be redoubled in conjunction with the commencement of the 2026 budget, in order to direct these resources towards improving services provided.
