Khartoum Health Minister to Sudanhorizon: Health Situation in the State is Stable

“We Contained Cholera and Have an Abundance of Medical Supplies”
Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa
The Minister of Health in Khartoum State, Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Amin, confirmed that the health situation in the state is currently stable.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon news site, Al-Amin said, “We have contained the cholera outbreak. Cases of watery diarrhea or suspected cholera have dropped to only 3–6 cases, which is an excellent situation compared to other states.”
He added that the state is now in the rainy season with heavy downpours, which has created challenges in sewage and water drainage. He explained that areas previously controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, after their withdrawal and the gradual return of residents, have been struggling with stagnant water, empty houses, and poor sanitation.
Al-Amin noted, “Despite dense vegetation, mosquitoes, and flies, we are working hard on combating them, opening drains, and carrying out spraying campaigns. We urge citizens to return to their homes to help with environmental sanitation and rubble removal.”
The minister stressed that medical supplies are available in abundance, including for malaria, dengue fever, and a large reserve for cholera and diarrheal symptoms. He added that the referral and ambulance systems are functioning well, with about 15 kidney dialysis centers operating efficiently, covering all dialysis cases.
He highlighted coordination between the state government, the Federal Ministry of Health, organizations, and the Sovereignty Council. He also pointed to the committee formed by the President of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, chaired by Council member General Ibrahim Jaber.
Al-Amin said the committee is working diligently to reopen the Khartoum International Airport, “We went to the airport today and set up a clinic that covers the actual medical needs for all cases inside and outside the airport. There is close coordination between us and airport management, as the airport is one of Sudan’s main gateways.”
He renewed his call for citizens to return, help fight mosquitoes and flies, clear vegetation, drain water, and reopen homes. He affirmed that the state government has worked hard to provide services, succeeding by more than 60%, while the remaining challenges require additional resources—a task the new committee will assist with.
