Khartoum Governor Directs Bahri Locality Officials to Act Quickly to Restore Services

Omdurman – Sudanhorizon

Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza has urgently directed the officials of Khartoum Bahri locality to swiftly transition into a “crisis cell”. This is to address the pressing state of emergency and to implement urgent measures for the residents of areas that have been cleared and reclaimed from the Rapid Support Forces rebels. This follows the entry of the Sudanese Armed Forces and other regular forces participating in the Battle of Dignity into various parts of the locality.

On Monday, the governor visited the Bahri service office with Bahri locality executive director Abdel Rahman Ahmed Abdel Rahman and the locality’s executive leadership. He emphasised that the situation of citizens who had been under siege necessitated immediate action to provide health and food assistance and urgently restore water and electricity services.

The governor also noted that arrangements are underway with the military operations leadership to secure the citizens and conduct a thorough sweep of the liberated areas, ensuring they are cleared of any risks related to unexploded ordnance and the bodies of fallen rebels.

Bahri locality authorities have begun working to provide emergency assistance. This is being done in close coordination with the relevant agencies, ensuring a comprehensive and effective response to the crisis.
