IGAD Secretary-General Congratulates on NYE, Hopes for a More Stable and Hopeful Year for the Region

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, on behalf of the entire IGAD family, extended his “sincere wishes for peace, prosperity and unity in the year ahead.”

“As we enter the new year, we reflect on the experiences and triumphs that have shaped our region. Despite the conflicts and tensions that have challenged us – most notably the ongoing crisis in Sudan, where people continue to endure immense suffering – our region has demonstrated resilience,” Workneh tweeted on his X platform account.

“Against all odds, we have made progress and overcome many challenges, strengthening our collective strength and determination. As we enter this new chapter, we hold out hope for a brighter future.

Together, we can build on our successes, address the remaining challenges and create opportunities for our people,” he added.
