IGAD and NEPAD Launch Training on Demographic Dividend and Reproductive Health with 4 Sudanese Ministries

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in cooperation with the African Development Agency (NEPAD) and with the participation of representatives from regional countries, launched the training program “Demographic Dividend and Reproductive Health in Africa.” The program aims to equip member states and relevant stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and technical skills to effectively implement, monitor, and evaluate reproductive health initiatives, as well as to build their capacity to effectively apply and implement the regional reproductive health strategy and its supporting tools.

According to a press release obtained by Sudanhorizon, the program is designed to build regional capacity for policymakers, program managers, and healthcare workers from the Ministries of Health and Education. It also aims to advance gender equality and youth affairs in member states.

In his opening speech on behalf of the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr. Mohamed Hussein Al-Douma, Head of the Health Unit at the organization, expressed the organization’s deep appreciation to the member states and the African Development Agency (NEPAD) for their continued leadership and technical and financial support in promoting reproductive health in the region, as a reflection of their commitment to improving the lives of people in the area.

Representing Sudan in the training program are delegates from the Ministries of Health, Social Security, Education, and Youth and Sports.
