The Government of Sudan has decided to extend the opening of the Adre border crossing point on the Sudanese-Chadian border for humanitarian aid, facilitated by international relief organizations, as from September 1st , until the 31st of December 2025.
This step, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, affirms the government’s commitment to ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those in need throughout Sudan, and demonstrates its goodwill toward facilitating humanitarian work and coordinating with relief organizations operating in Sudan in accordance with the rules and regulations governing international humanitarian law.
The statement stated that the extension of the Adre border crossing coincided with the disaster in the village of Tarsain in Jebel Marra, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians.
The statement added, “While the Government of Sudan mourns the loss of the citizens, it looks forward to brotherly and friendly countries and humanitarian organizations to accelerate the provision of the required assistance to the citizens and to taking advantage of the extension of the Adre border crossing to redouble efforts to meet urgent needs in the region, in coordination with the relevant state agencies.”
