Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, Member of the Sovereign Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, and Head of the Supreme Committee for Currency Replacement, has directed the extension of the currency replacement period and the opening of accounts until January 6, 2025.
He urged citizens to expedite the opening of bank accounts and to adopt electronic transactions instead of cash to prevent counterfeiting. He explained that the extension aims to enable citizens to deposit their funds following reports from the Central Bank of Sudan and security agencies regarding the progress of the replacement process across the targeted states.
General Jaber emphasized that this initiative is a highly significant national effort aimed at protecting the state from the breaches caused by the terrorist and rebellious Rapid Support Forces militia.
He expressed his gratitude to Sudanese citizens across all regions for their engagement with the replacement process, and he praised the efforts of banking sector workers who are striving to ensure the success of the currency replacement initiative.
