Sudanhorizon – Mariam Absher

Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Youssef confirmed that the Ministry Presidency is in direct and continuous contact with the Sudanese diplomatic mission in Damascus, which is currently headed by a Chargé d’Affaires.

The Minister indicated, in a special statement to the Sudanhorizon news website, that the Chargé d’Affaires is in Damascus and that he is in direct contact with the leadership of the ministry and all members of the Sudanese community throughout Syria.

Youssef said that according to what the Chargé d’Affaires reported, there is no danger to the mission so far and no members of the community have been harmed, adding that the mission has developed a comprehensive and ready plan to evacuate the community if necessary and events in Syria develop and pose a danger to the community.

According to available information, the numbers of the Sudanese community in Syria have decreased due to the security instability that it has been experiencing for years.

It is worth noting that the security situation in Syria has deteriorated following the control of a number of Syrian armed factions over some cities and the withdrawal of the Syrian army from them.
