The Director General of Sudan Electricity Company, Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed Ali, has spelt out the huge damage sustained in the infrastructure of the electricity sector, specifically in transmission, generation and distribution, besides the materials and equipment losses.
In his address before the 7th forum held under the title: “Reconstruction”, on Sunday, in collaboration with the Sudan Electricity Company and the Microfinance Unit, Engineer Ali revealed the loss of more than 20,000 barrels of oil and huge quantities of copper stolen from the internal networks.
Abdullah stressed that it was imperative people should think innovatively and to make use of domestic capitals, the private sector, companies and banks in order to promote the electricity sector and exploit the available capabilities, optimally.
He explained that the forum aims to discuss two main points: finding new ways of microfinance, and how to manage limited resources and exploit them efficiently in order to secure services for the largest possible number of beneficiaries.
The Director General expressed optimism that the forum will produce ideas and practical solutions that will be transformed into an action plan that contributes to finding solutions for challenges facing the electricity sector.
