Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Calls for Strengthening Industrial Investment with Sudan

Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir emphasized the importance of deepening industrial investment between Egypt and Sudan to achieve mutual benefits.

Speaking at the opening session of the First Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum held on Saturday in Cairo, Al-Wazir reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting its Sudanese counterparts, working towards restoring stability in Sudan and fostering economic growth in the near future.

He highlighted that the significant challenges facing Egypt and Sudan necessitate unified efforts, given their historical ties, familial connections, and shared destiny.

The forum aims to enhance Egypt and Sudan’s strong cooperation across all sectors, maximize their utilization of capabilities, and boost trade exchange levels for the benefit of both peoples.

Economic and Industrial Collaboration

Al-Wazir underscored the importance of raising a unified voice to create new frameworks to mitigate the economic repercussions of wars, which have disrupted production and halted economic progress. He called for finding tangible solutions to address these challenges.

Infrastructure and Trade Enhancements

Al-Wazir unveiled plans for several infrastructure projects to strengthen trade and economic ties between Egypt and Sudan, including:
A New Rail Exchange Station: A station at Abu Simbel to connect Egypt’s high-speed electric rail (first line) with a planned railway from Abu Simbel to Wadi Halfa in Sudan.

Three Border Land Ports: At Qustul, Arqin, and Ras Hadarba, aimed at facilitating trade between the two nations.

Logistical Zones: Planned at Qustul and Arqin to support commercial activity.

Waterway Development: Utilizing the Aswan-Wadi Halfa route via Lake Nasser to boost navigation and trade.

Call for Resilient Partnership

Al-Wazir reiterated the shared goals of stability and economic growth, highlighting the forum as a platform to foster stronger ties, deepen collaboration, and explore actionable solutions to overcome shared challenges, ensuring long-term prosperity for both Egypt and Sudan.
