He also outlined the key principles of Egypt’s position on the Sudan crisis, stressing the need to preserve Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, support its national institutions, and reject the establishment of any parallel entities. He further emphasized the importance of launching a Sudanese-led political process to bring an end to the prolonged conflict.
The minister highlighted the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce as a preliminary step toward a sustainable ceasefire, allowing for the delivery of humanitarian aid and alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people.
He also condemned all ongoing violations against civilians in Sudan, describing them as a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law, and stressed the necessity of protecting civilians and vital infrastructure.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s firm rejection of any external interference in Sudan’s internal affairs that could fuel or prolong the conflict, underscoring the importance of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and supporting efforts aimed at de-escalation and achieving a comprehensive political settlement.
