Decisions of Sudan Football Association Board of Directors meeting
The Board of Directors of the Sudan Football Association held its regular meeting No. (11) Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at Novmanpick Hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, headed by Dr. Moatasem Jaafar, with the participation of all representatives and members, and participated via video conference from London, Council Member Manal Al-Bushra, and from Cairo, Council Advisor Professor Mohamed Galal. Dr. Moatasem welcomed the members and praised their keenness to participate in light of Sudan’s circumstances.
He hoped that security and peace would return and that the Council would hold its next meeting in Sudan. He thanked the government and people of Saudi Arabia for their great efforts towards Sudanese football, their hosting of the national teams and their support for the Federation’s decision to continue foreign participation despite the war.
After lengthy deliberations and extensive discussion of the agenda, the Council issued the following decisions:
1/ Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting No. (10) dated 20 January, 2024
2/ Praising the brotherly Saudi Football Federation for its support to Sudan Association and its hosting of the national teams, their camps, programs and preparatory matches, in confirmation of the bilateral relationship between the two peoples. The Council assigned its president, Dr. Moatasem, to meet with the President of the Saudi Federation, His Excellency Mr. Yasser Hassan Al-Mishal, and to present him with a vote of thanks.
3/ Approval of the Competitions Committee’s recommendation to organize a supplementary
competition for the Premier League with the participation of the first eight clubs from the incomplete competition to choose the participating clubs externally.
4/ Appointment of Mr. Mohamed Sayed Ahmed Sir al-Khatim (Al-Jacomi) as an advisor to the Board of Directors.
5/ Approval of the financial report and the proposed budget for the remaining of the year 2024
6/ The Council heard a lengthy report from the National Teams Committee presented by its Chairman, Osama Atta Al-Mannan. The Council praised the effort made by the Committee, and the Council approved the plan submitted by it to prepare the team for the Mauritania and South Sudan matches. The Council also approved external participation for all teams, the incentives for players, and settlement of the technical staff arrears
7/ Praise for the national team’s technical staff, led by Ghanaian Kwasi Appiah and his supporting staff for their outstanding performance against Togo and Congo in the World Cup qualifiers and their great chances to compete for the qualification .
8/ Approval of the report of the committee charged with organizing the mixed championship for age groups inside and outside Sudan, and the Council approved the submitted plan and directed its implementation as it is an important competition for discovering talents.
9/ Amending the terms of the Premier League
competition to hold a competition between the eight top-ranking clubs in the unfinished competition to choose the clubs that represent Sudan in the CAF tournaments.
10/ Opening the player transfer period from June 15 to August 15, 2024 for Premier League clubs and contacting FIFA to complete the procedures.
11/ Approval of the draft joint cooperation agreement between Sudan Football Technology Academy and the Academy of Science and Technology
12/ Addressing the Elections Committee to take legal measures regarding the Nile River seat for membership in the Board of Directors.
13/ Insuring a rehabilitation project for eight stadiums, starting with the Karima, Al-Obeid, and Port Sudan stadiums, in coordination with their states, local federations, and FIFA.
14/ The Council reviewed the decisions of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and praised the great efforts of its legal committee headed by Mohamed Halfa. The Council affirmed its commitment to the decisions of the Cass Court, and the Council congratulated the President and First Vice President on the decision issued in their favor by the Court
15/ The Council approved the invitation submitted by the Abu Hamad Federation to attend the opening of the stadium after its rehabilitation
